Midsummer Night's Dream 2026 Synopsis

MSND Synopsis

The world of our “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

For over a century, the city of Athens has stood as a concrete monument to authoritarian dominance. Those born into the “nobility” of the Athenian court live under strict regulation. The rest work as laborers or soldiers, ruled over by the duke, Theseus.

The citizens live cloistered within its high walls, isolated from the ancient and mysterious wilds of the surrounding forest. There, among the trees, hides an invisible kingdom of Fae: magical beings with mercurial moods, ruled over by their creators, Oberon and Titania.

As our story begins, Athens has recently ended a cold war with the Amazons. Their queen, Hippolyta, has brokered a peace treaty, choosing to relinquish her Amazonian throne and marry Theseus to become duchess of Athens. The wedding could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for lower-class laborers dreaming to make a splash. But an unforeseen scandal is about to surface that might spoil everything, and in the forest beyond, a marital spat is pushing the faerie kingdom towards total chaos.
